So here I am back home in Australia. I’ve been here for exactly 3 weeks (can that be right?? I need to buy a calendar) and there’s just one more week to go. In that time I’ve celebrated Christmas, hung out with family and friends, met Ian Thorpe (weird story), gone camping, swum in the ocean and eaten a tonne of Asian food.
And I haven’t once taken out my camera.
Visiting home is not like ‘regular’ travelling. It seems weird to take photos of things that are normal – like the beach, or China Town, or your family, or old friends in familiar pubs. I thought a few times that I should take some photos to show my classmates back in Croatia – “this is how we celebrate Christmas! look at the blue sky! look at the 30 degree heat! look at us all in shorts and thongs!”
But it’s all too normal to take photos of.
I will have to try, in these last few days, to make the most of it and take some memorable shots.
Or I suppose I could go old-school and just remember it all in my silly unreliable head.
