What the…? No books!

I was just taking a look at Goodreads and I’ve discovered that I didn’t read a single book in October, and I’m on track to not read any in November as well.

Does this ever happen to you?

I was on a roll. Not that reading books is a trackable activity, but really, I was on a roll! I set myself the very achievable and modest challenge of 40 books this year. But look at this graphic:

What a fucking disaster!

I did a bit of travel, had a lot of work. I think also I go through phases – I spent a lot of time this past few weeks reading articles, essays, news, that sort of thing. Got off the fiction wagon for a bit. Whenever this happens, it feels like a struggle to get back on. You have to work hard. It’s always worth it in the end, but difficult to start.

So, I guess I better put away Pocket and Evernote for a few days, and pick up a book. Or a Kindle. Or both.
